To use HDR mode, open the Camera app and look for the HDR icon at the top of the screen.
Tap the icon to turn HDR on, then frame your photo and take it as usual. HDR is especially useful in scenes with strong differences between bright and dark areas, such as when a person is standing in front of a window, a bright sky, or the sun.
When HDR is enabled, the camera can recognise backlit conditions and balance the exposure across the image. This helps keep facial details clearer instead of leaving the subject too dark, while reducing overly bright highlights in the background. It can also create softer, more natural-looking light in the final photo.
For best results, hold the phone steady until the photo is captured. HDR options and icon locations may vary slightly by phone model and software version.
